This weekend I finally ticked something off my bucket list: visiting a race track for the first time. I headed to Donington Park for the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), and it was every bit as exciting, chaotic, and loud as I imagined.
Meeting Up
I wasn’t alone — I met up with John and Chris at the track. Having mates to share the day with made it even better. From grabbing food between races to arguing about who’d win the next round, they made the day properly memorable. Of course, I had to bring cookies.
First Impressions
Walking through the gates, I instantly knew I was in for something different. Engines echoed around the circuit, the smell of petrol hung in the air, and fans in team gear were buzzing everywhere.
My Camera Disaster (and Rescue)
I’d brought my Nikon to capture the action, but halfway through the day my SD card died and wiped everything I’d already shot. Typical. Luckily, John had a spare card, and he saved the day. Lesson learned: always pack backups — and never rely on just one SD card when you’re at an event like this.
